Description: This Task Agreement includes work associated with projects at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (Park). The Park traverses 184.5 miles across four physiographic provinces, 5 counties in Maryland and West Virginia, as well as into the District of Columbia. Such physiographic diversity subsequently cultivates plant and wildlife diversity, which is evident as one travels through the Park. Such habitat diversity, the proximity of state- and county-owned conservation properties, and the elongate geographic distribution of the Park make it an ideal habitat corridor for plants and wildlife alike. Conversely, the complex and diverse nature of the Park also creates management difficulties, particularly without appropriate data. The Park relies heavily on geospatial data to accomplish its mission of resource management and conservation, particularly when considering conservation of biological resources at a landscape-level.
